Anthony Giancatarino

Anthony brings nearly 20 years of experience facilitating community governance processes to build racially just strategies and solutions across climate, energy, food, and economic systems.

Rooted in Philadelphia, Anthony is a father of three and a co-founder of Taproot. Prior to Taproot Earth, he facilitated the development of multiple city, state, and national energy democracy and climate justice coalitions and networks. Together with frontline community partners, Anthony co-created several community governance toolkits, including the Energy Democracy Scorecard; People’s Orientation to a Regenerative Economy: Collaborating for Bold Possibilities; Black Work Matters: Green Jobs Report; and the We Power Policy Toolkit. He also spent seven years at the Center for Social Inclusion, working with grassroots leaders, particularly in the Gulf South, on strategies to advance racial equity in U.S. policies.

When not working, Anthony can usually be found coaching youth basketball, supporting local youth organizations, cooking, or hiking in the mountains
