PLANNING COMMITTEE
The Katrina 20 Local Planning Committee connects community members (LA, MS, AL) who have been impacted by Hurricane Katrina (2005) and other climate disasters in the years since, to create a shared vision of commemoration and power-building around Hurricane Katrina (Week of Action: August 24-31, 2025) and the repair our region requires. We will commemorate the moment that changed so many lives as we build power to ensure a sustainable future where we can all thrive. The Katrina 20 Local Planning Committee is rooted by Taproot Earth, The Foundation for Louisiana, the Ashé Cultural Arts Center of New Orleans and Junebug Productions. It belongs to all who share in its vision and work.

Do you have an idea for a session, conversation, event, and art/cultural expression to share during the K20 Week of Action? We want to hear it! Please submit this community session proposal form by May 15, 2025. Proposals will be reviewed by and confirmed by the full committee. REQUESTS FOR PROPOSALS!
Taproot Earth is soliciting proposals for the Katrina 20 (K20) Week of Action (August 24-31, 2025), a project aimed at commemorating 20 years of survival, recovery, reemerging and rebuilding from the impacts and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina (2005). This project represents a significant moment for remembrance, reflection and cultivation of the power of frontline communities in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama - areas impacted by the unprecedented storm.

Event production services involve planning, organizing and executing critical elements of the Katrina 20 (K20) Week of Action. We invite qualified event production companies to submit a proposal by May 15, 2025.
