Taproot Earth designs and convenes spaces that bring together community leaders, practitioners, facilitators, legal professionals, and organizational partners for gatherings that support collaborative learning, relationship building, and program development. From August 7 to 15, 2026, Taproot Earth will convene the Global Climate Finance Convening in Dublin, Ireland.
This gathering will bring together frontline leaders, climate finance experts, and other stakeholders from across the world, including Ireland, to co-design the governance structure of a viable and sustainable alternative resourcing vehicle to the current global finance system.
The Global Climate Finance Convening is designed to support shared learning, collaborative planning, and relationship building among participants.
Rooted in Global Climate Reparations, participants will:
align on the vision, values, and guiding parameters of the Reef Fund ecosystem
establish clear governance structures and decision-making processes for the Reef Fund
identify potential partners and communities for assessing readiness for Reef Fund pilot projects
Here is an overview of the convening's arc and its three sessions:
The convening will begin with a three-day Black Joy and Restoration Session led by Taproot Noire, a Taproot Earth initiative designed specifically for Black-identified climate leaders.
The session will create space for reflection, wellness-centered activities, shared learning, and relationship-building.
Through facilitated discussions and collaborative group activities, participants will strengthen connections and build long-term relationships across regions and networks.
The second Reef Build session of the convening will bring together frontline community leaders across regions and sectors for collaborative planning and governance discussions connected to the Reef Fund.
Focused on the long-term design, stewardship, and implementation of the project, participants will engage in group discussions and collaborative exercises intended to support alignment, strengthen cross-regional partnership, and advance the ongoing development of clear and accountable decision-making processes.
The convening will conclude with a session led by global legal professionals from the Just Transition Lawyering Network at Taproot Earth who will explore the challenges and opportunities involved in advancing Global Climate Reparations.
Focused on strengthening international legal and policy coordination in support of reparative climate action, the session will bring together participants to discuss legal frameworks, organizational structures, and collaborative approaches connected to GCR's frontline community-centered initiative.
