GLOBAL CLIMATE REPARATIONS
Rebuilding what sustains us.
Repairing how resources move.
Across the world, frontline communities already know how to care for their lands, waters, and one another. Too often, they are asked to rebuild with resources they do not govern.
Today's climate finance concentrates decision-making far from the communities living with the greatest impacts. It often arrives as debt instead of repair, prioritizing financial systems over collective self determination.
The Reef Fund is building something different.
It is Global Climate Reparations in action, creating a community-governed approach where frontline communities decide how resources are received, stewarded, and moved toward climate solutions.
The Reef Fund embraces a new approach to climate finance rooted in repair over extraction.
Rather than asking communities to compete for resources or carry the burden of debt, the Reef Fund invests in the leadership, knowledge, and governance that already exist within frontline communities. It is designed to move resources through collective decision making, strengthen community self-determination, and serve as a replicable model for Global Climate Reparations.
Together with a growing network of resourcing networks and community-governed funds, the Reef Fund contributes to a broader Reef Ecosystem working to transform how resources move around the world.

Climate finance is not only about how resources move. It is about who has the power to decide where they go. The Reef Fund reimagines both by replacing extractive systems with community governance rooted in repair.
Like a coral reef, lasting systems are built through countless relationships.
No single organism creates a reef alone. Together, they form a living ecosystem that protects life, nurtures biodiversity, and creates the conditions for countless other forms of life to flourish.
The Reef Fund takes its name and inspiration from this living system.
It is one part of a broader Reef Ecosystem, an interconnected network of community-governed funds, resourcing networks, and frontline movements advancing Global Climate Reparations.
The Reef Fund exists to help:
RESTORE
ecosystems and local economies shaped by extraction
REPAIR
relationships between people, land, water and ecosystems that sustain life
EXPAND
what becomes possible when communities have the resources and autonomy they need to thrive

The Reef Ecosystem is a living network advancing Global Climate Reparations through collective governance, shared learning, and aligned action.
The ecosystem brings together:
Community-governed funds
moving resources through repair, accountability, and collective stewardship
Frontline leaders and community members
co-designing how resources are governed, distributed, and sustained
Technical and financial partners
strengthening long-term infrastructure in service of community governance
Movement networks
building shared strategy across regions, struggles, and generations
Together, they make possible:

Growing Together
This work is being built in relationship, not in isolation.
