Black Liberation is an essential step to achieving climate justice. It is the taproot contribution from which our work and relationships grow. Black Liberation requires that we combat anti-Black racism and center the lived experiences of global Black resistance to unlock and innovate climate solutions that make a more sustainable world.

We recognize and honor the sovereignty and self-determination of people indigenous to their lands and waters across the globe. We challenge political and economic borders that divide and extract communities, while building in practices of repair, respect, and self-determination.

Frontline community governance is rooted in self-determination, Black liberation, Indigenous knowledge, and climate justice. It is the practice of decolonization and democratization of analysis and learning, decision-making processes, and equitable and just distribution of power and resources to build a sustainable economy and society.

Some climate scientists and activists see 2030 as a point of no return. We see it as a turning point for choosing sustainability over scarcity, collective governance over authoritarianism, and stewardship over predatory extraction. We choose a horizon full of free people practicing hope, solidarity, mutuality, care, and compassion in the spaces and places we call home.
